Is MCFC a complete solution for learning chinese ?

When learning Chinese, every student has two challenges: the first is to learn to speak and the second is to learn the characters. We chose to concentrate on the second challenge. MCFC has been designed with one goal in mind: helping students to memorise and write Chinese characters. That's why , you won t find any grammar nor sentences for learning to speak Chinese. If you are interested in learning to speak Chinese, the best way is probably to take lessons or get a software devoted to that.

Translating the menu

Up to now, the application is available in French, English, Italian, Spanish, German and Chinese. The application detects the language set by default.

Anyone can translate the application in any language, without having to modify the code of the application. For instance , if a user wants to translate the menus in brazilian, he should take the following steps:

  1. From the windows explorer, go into the myCHineseFlashCards/resources folder
  2. Make a copy of the flashCards.properties file. rename the copy as flashCards_BR.properties
  3. Edit the flashCards_BR.properties file
  4. Each line of this file has the following form: key = value. Translate all the values. Don t modify the keys.
  5. When all the values have been translated, save the file
  6. Do the same thing for the common.properties file
