MyChineseFlashCards's goal is to help beginners or mid-level learners in chinese to be able to read a newspaper. Instead of providing a traditional dictionary, we chose to design a dictionary specifically designed to reach that goal. This dictionary has the following features:

• only the 1,500 most usual characters, are provided. These characters are normally enough to be able to read a Chinese newspaper and understand most of its contents. Thus, the learner doesn t waste time learning rarely used characters,
• the characters are sorted from the most frequently used character to the less frequently used,
• new characters are introduced only in combination with characters already learned. Benefits are twofold: learning the new combination is much easier. Besides, the review of the characters already learned helps the memorisation,
• the history of the character and the category it belongs to is provided, helping the student to memorize it.

In the future, the following features will be added :

• dictionary printing,
• dynamic character drawing.
